Dry powder cleaning, also known as dry cleaning, is a carpet cleaning method that involves using a dry chemical powder to clean carpets. The powder is spread over the carpet and then worked into the fibres using a machine with brushes or pads. The powder attracts and absorbs dirt and other contaminants in the carpet, and is then vacuumed up along with the dirt.
The process we use here at Carpet Heroes involves the following steps:
1. Pre-inspection: The carpet is inspected to determine the type of fabric and any areas that require special attention.
2. Pre-vacuuming: The carpet is vacuumed to remove any loose dirt or debris.
3. Application of dry cleaning powder: The dry cleaning powder is spread over the carpet and worked into the fibres using a machine with brushes or pads.
4. Dwell time: The dry cleaning powder is left to dwell on the carpet for a certain amount of time, typically 15-20 minutes.
5. Extraction: The dry cleaning powder and dirt are then vacuumed up using a specialized vacuum cleaner.
6. Post-inspection: The carpet is inspected to ensure that it has been properly cleaned.
Dry powder cleaning is often used as an alternative to wet cleaning methods, such as hot water extraction, for carpets that cannot be cleaned with water. It is also a good option for carpets that need to be cleaned quickly or for areas with high foot traffic that cannot be left wet for an extended period of time.
However, it is important to note that dry powder cleaning may not be as effective at removing deep stains and dirt as wet cleaning methods.
